Welcome & Mission Statement

Welcome to my HD-DVD and Blu-ray firmware update blog.  I want to state from the outset that this blog has not been established to favor any particular side in this exciting and confusing home entertainment format war.  That said, this is not a journalism project, so if opinions find their way to this site, so be it.  My goal is to give you quick access to firmware upgrade news, because often times this information is not discussed in the media or publicized by the equipment manufacturers.  Consumers must empower themselves to treat their home theater equipment like computers: they need to keep up to date with the latest developments and update the firmware when necessary.  I want to make this an easy process.  In addition, when applicable, I will do my best to include A/V receiver firmware update information, as it pertains to hi-def format performance.

Let me pay homage to my favorite home theater sites- Home Theater Forum, Digital Bits, AVS Forum.  They will remain on my blog for your benefit.  I am not attempting to compete with them, but I know from firsthand experience that not everyone wants to sift through endless technical forums/threads to find simple information.  Go to my favorite forums for reviews and user feedback.  When you just want to check if your hardware needs a firmware update- make this blog your first stop.  I read the other sites daily, and welcome your comments and tips to keep my information current.
